How to solve the problems

Install Blackdown jdk 1.3.1
In all scripts under $ORACLE_HOME/bin replace JREDIR=/u01/app/oracle/product/9.2.0/JRE with JREDIR=/usr/lib/j2se/1.3 and jre with java

Installationprocedure:

Install Oracle using the Oracle Installer.
Ignore the Installationerrors which occur especially during databasegeneration and networkconfiguration
Install Blackdown JDK if you do not have done so.
Networkconfiguration: Changenetca (adapt jre).
Databasetool: Change dbca (adapt jre).
Configure network with $ORACLE_HOME/bin/netca.
Install database with $ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbca.

SID (testing/unstable)

Problem: The database does not start properly (sqlplus hangs).
The java based database tools cannot be started.

Cause: The Oracle jdk binaries are linked with a incompatible glibc version.

How to solve the problems

Install Blackdown jdk 1.3.1
In all scripts under $ORACLE_HOME/bin replace JREDIR=/u01/app/oracle/product/9.2.0/JRE with JREDIR=/usr/lib/j2se/1.3 and jre with java

Install oracleclientsoftware using the Oracle Installer.
